Former President George H. W. Bush voted today, and his spokesman Jim McGrath shared a touching photo of the moment.

Jim Baker served as U.S. Secretary of State (1989-1992) and then White House Chief of Staff (1992-1993) under Bush; they have been friends since the late 1950s.

Bush adopted Sully five months ago from America’s VetDogs, which trains service dogs and provides them to veterans for free. Sully is named after Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger III, the airline pilot who safely landed a passenger plane in the Hudson River without losing a single one of the 155 passengers on board.

Bush celebrated 73 years of marriage in January of this year with former First Lady Barbara Bush, who passed away in April. But it’s clear from McGrath’s tweet that, although Bush lost his lifetime companion, the former president is still surrounded by friends and family who love him.
