Governor Abbott Meets With Ambassador Of The European Union To The United States David O’Sullivan

Governor Greg Abbott today met with Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to the United States David O’Sullivan to discuss Texas’ strong economic ties with Europe.

Governor Greg Abbott today met with Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to the United States David O’Sullivan to discuss Texas’ strong economic ties with Europe. During the meeting, the two leaders also spoke on issues important in Texas and the European Union including trade, energy and technology. A readout of the meeting can be found below.

Governor Abbott thanked Ambassador O’Sullivan for visiting Texas and representing the EU’s interests in the state. The Governor expressed his desire to strengthen Texas’ position as a valuable trading partner by increasing exports to countries in the EU. The Governor and Ambassador also spoke about the opportunity for increasing liquefied natural gas trade between Texas and the EU, and the growing importance of the technology sector for both economies. The meeting concluded as the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working to expand the already productive relationship between Texas and the EU.

In addition to meeting with Governor Abbott, Ambassador O’Sullivan is representing the European Union’s inaugural presence in Austin for South by Southwest.
