Governor Abbott Visits Hurricane Shelter In San Antonio

Greg Abbott today visited with Texans seeking refuge from Hurricane Harvey at a shelter in San Antonio. During his visit, he reaffirmed his first priority is the safety of those in the storm’s path.

Greg Abbott today visited with Texans seeking refuge from Hurricane Harvey at a shelter in San Antonio. During his visit, he reaffirmed his first priority is the safety of those in the storm’s path. He also thanked people across the state offering assistance and resources to those in need. Earlier today, the Governor sent a letter to President Donald J. Trump requesting a Presidential Disaster Declaration to help ensure that Texans have additional and necessary resources to protect themselves and their property and to rebuild after Hurricane Harvey.
 
“My message to all Texans is to put your life first and heed all warnings from local officials,” said Governor Abbott. “While Texas has state and federal resources staged in multiple locations, I encourage all in the storm’s path to take their lives into their own hands and make sure they are out of harm’s way. I also ask that everyone join me in keeping those affected, and our brave first responders, in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time and to continue offering aid and assistance where possible.”
 
While in San Antonio, the Governor also met with first responders stationed there to thank them for their service and sacrifice helping others during this dangerous storm.
 
The Governor also asks Texans to review important safety information about of the storm.
