We are into Day Five of the mainstream media and Democrats (but I repeat myself) shamelessly blaming President Trump and Republicans for the horrific mass shooting that took place in El Paso, TX on Saturday.
The shooting killed 22, and injured dozens more.
Among the latest Democrats to weigh in on Trump’s alleged complicity is none other than frequent Trump critic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY). The Hill reports:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) late Monday said that President Trump’s divisive rhetoric on immigration was “directly responsible” for the mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, that left at least 22 people dead.
The freshman New York congresswoman made the comments while speaking at a vigil in Brooklyn for the victims of the shooting in El Paso and Dayton, Ohio, according to the New York Daily News.
“I’m tired of the questioning if the president is racist. He is,” Ocasio-Cortez told a crowd of about 500 people, the newspaper noted.

While shamelessly opportunistic Democrats like Ocasio-Cortez carelessly and erroneously throw around the words “racism” and “racist” to describe President Trump and his Republican supporters, here are a few things to remember:
1) What the freshman Congresswoman, her Democratic colleagues, and liberal journalists/commentator types are engaging in is trying to punish speech. This is not about “incitement” to them and isn’t about their (and your and my) feelings of sympathy for the victims to them. Because if it was, they’d take their own advice and “tone it down.” But they won’t.
What they want ultimately is for them to be able to say any outrageous and incendiary thing about their political opposition, but yet when their political opposition responds in kind with accusations of their own, Democrats and the media will then accuse them of incitement and intolerance.
It’s a shutuppery tactic and Democrats use it over and over and over again.
2) The anti-ICE terrorist directly used the “concentration camp” rhetoric we frequently hear from AOC as inspiration for his attempted murder spree. Not only has AOC not taken “direct responsibility” for it, but she will not comment on it and the media won’t ask her. She’s still calling border detention centers “concentration camps.”
3) When it comes to so-called “incitement”, Squad Commander AOC most definitely does not practice what she preaches. Most recently, the Congresswoman incited a Twitter mob to dox teenage boys after a picture of them “groping” a cardboard cutout of her was posted online.
Not only did she post the original photo and amplify it to her Mob Squad of followers (which has received 10s of thousands of RTs as of this writing), but she also posted a zoomed-in image of their faces to help doxxers identify the boys in the picture (she later deleted the tweet).
As in the anti-ICE terrorist case, AOC has not condemned the doxxing efforts of her sycophantic mob. So by her own rules, she condones them stalking the cardboard cutout “gropers.”
4) Lastly, I encourage everyone to read/watch the interview WH Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney did with MSNBC‘s Chuck Todd on Sunday, where Todd tried to bait him into playing the “blame Trump” game with regards to El Paso.
This exchange in particular is key in context of what Democrats and the media are trying to do in the aftermath of this weekend’s mass shootings (bolded emphasis added):
TODD: Well that’s my question for you, what is the President doing — but in fairness, Mr. Mulvaney, the President has spent the last month on Twitter stocking racial resentment in different ways and you can, you can try to rationalize that he was speaking about specific incidents but taking together these sick people as you’re describing, they hear what they want to hear. Does the president not have a responsibility to speak with a higher moral clarity when it comes to violence. A higher moral clarity when it comes to refugees.
MULVANEY: Right, Chuck , let me put it to you this way. Even if he did speak the way that you want him to speak, and I get the fact that some people don’t approve of the verbiage the president uses, I get that, alright, but even if they did, your point that you just made is absolutely right. People are going to hear what they want to hear. My guess is this guy is in that parking lot in El Paso, Texas in that Walmart doing this even if Hillary Clinton is president. In fact, he probably go out and blame Hillary Clinton for doing it.
Bingo. Mulvaney turned Todd’s own point around on him there, and hammered home a point Republicans have made for years every time Democrats falsely accuse them of inciting violence:
Deranged killers are going to hear what they want to hear. The Democrat who was inspired by Bernie Sanders’s rhetoric heard what he wanted to hear. The Antifa thug who tried to kill people in Tacoma heard what he wanted to hear. The El Paso shooter heard what he wanted to hear. What they all “heard” was that certain people didn’t deserve to live.
That’s not what was said by any politician, not Sanders, not AOC, and not Trump.
If we are going to hold every politician “directly responsible” for the acts of depraved and deranged people do, then every politician must shut up Full stop. Because people will hear what they want to hear.
But “shutting up” a realistic expectation for any elected official. And we know Democrats aren’t going to shut up, nor or they going to “tone it down.” Because they won’t, Republicans won’t either.
