LCRA Offers Rebates to Help Homes, Businesses Conserve Water

AUSTIN, Texas – The Lower Colorado River Authority is offering WaterSmart rebates to help residents and businesses conserve water and save money.

Rebates of 50 percent of the cost, up to $600 per residential property, are available for irrigation system evaluations, pressure-reducing heads or nozzles, pressure-reducing valves and in-line regulators, soil moisture sensors, rain sensors, and smart controllers. The program recently expanded to include pool filters, pool covers, landscape aeration, compost and mulch, and rainwater harvesting equipment.

LCRA offers the rebates to residents and businesses who receive water from an LCRA water customer. LCRA domestic use customers also are eligible.

“Rebates help put water conservation talk into action,” said John Hofmann, LCRA executive vice president of Water. “With the rebates, we want to encourage home and business owners to incorporate new water-saving equipment and technology into their everyday lives. The Highland Lakes are a vital water supply for Central Texas, and we all need to do our part to conserve.”

WaterSmart Rebates also are available for businesses, industries, schools, hospitals, churches and other institutions in LCRA’s water service area to help implement new water-saving equipment and practices. Commercial, industrial and institutional water users can receive rebates of 50 percent of the cost, up to $1,500 per system, for pressure-reducing heads and nozzles, pressure-reducing valves and in-line regulators, soil moisture sensors, rain sensors, and smart controllers. Rebates also are available for water-efficient toilets and urinals, high-efficiency spray rinse valves, landscape aeration, and compost and mulch. Water audits and water-saving technology, such as rainwater harvesting and commercial ice machines, also are eligible and require pre-approval.

The rebates cover equipment costs, not labor or tax, unless otherwise specified. Visit
