1. Grody to the max
Marissa got her hands on a recording of a town hall meeting for Department of State Health Services workers, who had recently been relocated after she reported on a mold infestation in their office. Hear what their commissioner had to say — and why it matters.
2. The slow pace of reunifications
In the last week, the federal government successfully reunited just 13 kids with parents they were separated from at the border — leaving nearly 570 in shelters. Emma explains what, exactly, is taking so long, and who the feds have charged with speeding up reunifications.
3. They’re on the air!
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and his Democratic rival, Beto O’Rourke, are both on the TV airwaves. Ross tells us who’s punching high and who’s punching low, and what it’s costing to do it.
4. A power grab?
Outgoing state Rep. Byron Cook, R-Corsicana, suggested a move by Gov. Greg Abbott to get a chance to preview agency rule changes might be unconstitutional. Emma unpacks Cook’s statement, and Ross compares Abbott’s effort to past gubernatorial expansions of executive power.
