On this week’s TribCast, Emily talks to Evan, Ross and Patrick about Donald Trump’s vow to stump for Ted Cruz, the Cruz campaign’s attacks on Beto O’Rourke and the most competitive congressional races in November.

1. “The biggest stadium in Texas we can find”

President Donald Trump made big headlines late last week, saying he would come to Texas in October to host a rally for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in the biggest stadium he could find. We take a trip back through the ups and downs of Cruz’s relationship with Trump.

2. On the attack

The attacks on U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke from the Cruz camp are coming in hot and heavy, from the minor (O’Rourke’s bad language and grunge rock days) to the more serious (a revelation that O’Rourke tried to flee the scene of his 20-year-old DWI.) We talk about what will stick, what won’t, and whether the attacks are having unintended consequences.

3. Congressional pressure

We take the temperature of four of the most competitive Texas congressional matchups: MJ Hegar’s bid against U.S. Rep. John Carter, Collin Allred’s race to unseat U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions, Lizzie Panill Fletcher’s effort against U.S. Rep. John Culberson and Gina Ortiz Jones’ race against U.S. Rep. Will Hurd.

We’ll see you next week!
