Understanding Congress

Every year, Congress tackles vital issues such government funding, foreign relations, taxation, nominations, and much more. It is critically important to understand the nuances of how Congress works beyond the schoolhouse basics of how a bill becomes a law.

On September 25, Brookings Executive Education and the Brookings Press will host a discussion about Congress with the authors of “Inside Congress: A Guide for Navigating the Politics of the House and Senate Floor,” a new, easy-to-understand guide to Congress that is a must-read for students studying the institution, Americans wishing to influence the process, and those who just want to understand how Congress works (and why). Authors Trevor Corning, Reema Dodin, and Kyle Nevins will dive into the legislative sausage-making, moderated by Brookings Senior Fellow John Hudak.

After the session, panelists will take audience questions. Books will be available for purchase.
