The brown in me is finding it hard to address the issues which are ingrained in us from birth which create all these divides.

• The moment you take your first breath you have joined humanity.  In today’s world it is imperative for us to remember our first breath was as a human and thus it should define our existence.
• Regardless of what part of the world you are born in, you are human!  If you can read this, you are human! Countries impose their stamp on us by issuing a birth certificate and creating a culture and nationality.  However before and after they do this, you are still human. Humanity does not exclude anyone.

The divides between us are not there when we are born, nor are they there when we die. The first and last breaths are the only equality in this world. Our goal should be to fight all which divides us as we live. A child on his first breath does not know hate.  As parents it’s us who create adults  who become judgmental, arrogant, sexists, racists…..

This week, the brown in me just wants to light the spark in you to think about all the divides in your life which were created after your birth.
