If the Democrats Really Believed Their Immigration Arguments They’d Put Donald Trump on Mount Rushmore

Undocumented students join a rally in support of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA program outside the Edward Roybal Federal Building in downtown Los Angeles Friday, Sept. 1, 2017. President Donald Trump says he’ll be announcing a decision on the fate of hundreds of thousands of young immigrants who were brought into the country illegally as children in the coming days, immigrants he’s calling “terrific” and says he loves. Trump told reporters Friday, using a short-hand term for the nearly 800,000 young people who were given a reprieve from deportation and temporary work permits under the Obama-era DACA, program. Last week the story surfaced that the Trump Administration had considered releasing ICE detainees into sanctuary cities. This story was confirmed later in the week:

This drew an expected though counterintuitive response from the Democrats.

Via The Hill:

Top Democratic lawmakers were quick to criticize the morality of the proposal, while also saying it’s hard to take it seriously.

“You have policymakers at the highest levels throwing tantrums,” said Rep. Lou Correa (D-Calif.), the chairman of the House Homeland Security oversight subcommittee. “I can’t even begin to address this issue.”

“The fact that this idea was even considered — not once but twice — serves as a reminder that the Trump Administration’s reckless immigration agenda is not about keeping the country safe, but about partisan politics and wantonly inflicting cruelty,” said Thompson in a statement Friday before Trump weighed in on the matter.

The Guardian:

“The cruelty of this administration never seems to end,” said Julián Castro, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for president ahead of the 2020 election.

Speaking at a CNN town hall event on Thursday night, Castro compared the sanctuary cities proposal to family separation, which failed to deter people from coming to the border.

“Now they are talking about bussing families to particular cities to target political opponents,” Castro said. “These folks want us to choose cruelty as a weapon against people and against political opponents.”

Another Democratic presidential hopeful, Amy Klobuchar, said Trump was “literally using human beings as pawns in a political game”.

“Instead of passing comprehensive immigration reform he does this: White House proposed releasing immigrant detainees in sanctuary cities, targeting political foes,” Klobuchar said on Twitter.

Why this reaction. For years we’ve been told that illegal immigrants strengthen the economy.

Undocumented immigrants contribute significantly to state and local taxes, collectively paying an estimated $11.64 billion a year. Contributions range from almost $2.2 million in Montana with an estimated undocumented population of 4,000 to more than $3.1 billion in California, home to more than 3 million undocumented immigrants.

Undocumented immigrants nationwide pay on average an estimated 8 percent of their incomes in state and local taxes (this is their effective state and local tax rate). To put this in perspective, the top 1 percent of taxpayers pay an average nationwide effective tax rate of just 5.4 percent.

In fact, because illegals use stolen or forged Social Security numbers in order to get jobs, they help keep the Social Security system solvent by paying into a system they will never use.

We know that illegal immigrants make our cities safer:

Alex Nowrasteh, with the libertarian Cato Institute, analyzed the Texas data to make a comparison of immigrants in the country illegally and native-born residents. In a recent post he noted that in 2015 Texas police made 815,689 arrests of native-born Americans, 37,776 arrests of immigrants in the country illegally and 20,323 arrests of legal immigrants. Given the relative populations for each group, he wrote, “The arrest rate for illegal immigrants was 40 percent below that of native-born Americans.”

In addition, he wrote, the homicide arrest rate for native-born Americans was “about 46 percent higher than the illegal immigrant homicide arrest rate.”

We know for a fact that sanctuary cities want to count illegals in the 2020 Census in order to increase their Congressional representation.

In fact, according to the arguments we’re hit with, illegal immigrants are preferable to US citizens in just about every way. They are law abiding, they pay their taxes, they use fewer social services, the increase Congressional representation, but they can’t vote and if they complain you just deport their asses.

This would also get rid of the crisis at the border. Instead of outnumbered Border Patrol agents being worked to death and ICE putting kids in cages and immigration judges turning back asylum seekers, we could move them to San Francisco or Los Angeles for a fraction of the cost and everyone would be happy.

If the Democrats actually believed any of the bullsh** they’ve been selling about illegal immigration, they’d be putting in competitive bids for boxcar loads of illegals to be dumped in their districts.

This, of course, is facetious. Everyone know why Democrats don’t want more illegals in their jurisdictions. They know, as well as the rest of us, that illegal immigrants are a drag on the economy, they depress wages of US citizens, they are consumers of social services, they foster a culture of lawlessness because once you start using one forged document it is easy to use two, and no one–including illegal immigrants–feels safer in a neighborhood that is heavily populated with illegals even if some douchenozzle from Cato says they are more law abiding that citizens.

These are all reasons why Trump should flush the detention centers directly into the home districts of all the main characters obstructing his border security plan, including the neighborhoods of the judges making the outrageous decisions designed to hamstring border security and make them publicly defend their opposition.
