Cowboys, Cuba and Joe King Carrasco: Your Weekend's Here!

You’ve managed to make it just about to the weekend and we’ve found some things you might find really fun. First, let’s start Saturday at high noon at the Briscoe Western Art Museum where they’re celebrating the International Day of the Cowboy. They call it the Briscoe Blast. “Live music, art activities, and games for the adults and for the kids.” Ed Parsons will be rustling up authentic chuck wagon food, cooking cowboy donuts, biscuits and pineapple upside down cake. This free Briscoe event will take place both inside, and outside in the McNutt Family courtyard. They will have misters stationed outside to nullify the heat. “All to celebrate the heritage of the cowboy and the cowgirl, and most importantly the vaquero. Vaqueros were here first, remember.” Then on Saturday night, downtown at Hotel Havana’s Ocho. “For five years now we’ve had Hemingway’s Birthday, it kinda goes with our theme.” Sandra Puente says that theme is Cuba, and Saturday it will sound and feel a lot that way.
