March is colorectal cancer awareness month. Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States.
The American Cancer Society now recommends adults over the age of 45 receive regular colorectal cancer screenings. This recommendation is different from the previous recommendation encouraging people over 50 to get screened.
Speak with your health care provider about getting screened earlier if you have a family history of colorectal cancer or personal history of inflammatory bowel disease.
